USA Gymnastics Editorial Work by Grant Glas:
USA Gymnastics is the sole national governing body for the sport of gymnastics in the United States. This designation comes from the U.S. Olympic Committee, and the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). USA Gymnastics has many responsibilities, including selecting and training the U.S. Gymnastics Teams for Olympic Games and World Championships; promoting and developing gymnastics on a grassroots and national level; and serving as a resource center for member clubs, fans and gymnasts throughout the United States.
USA Gymnastics prints two nationally circulated publications and Grant Glas is in charge of all editorial design and layout for both of these magazines. USA Gymnastics is a full color, 52 page, bi-monthly publication with a circulation of over 100,000. Technique is a two-color, 48 page, monthly publication with a circulation of over 17,000.
Drawing from the visual language of the magazine's three decades past, Grant merged the design evolution with sporty, bright and youthful colors, alongside bold photography, to give USA Gymnastics a more contemporary look that would still appeal to its established audience. The main goal being to reconnect with its young energetic audience, but not looking like a kids’ magazine.
